Biden’s ‘mixed message’ on COVID and Border becomes ‘marketing’ for cartels

On Thursday’s show of MSNBC’s “MTP Daily,” Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) said the White House was sending a “mixed message” by extending public health orders while saying “there is no there are no health concerns” and eliminating Title 42 and that “becomes a marketing process for the cartels to bring more people to the United States.” Cuellar also predicted that “the cartels are going to be enriched by the disappearance of title 42 on May 23”.

Cuellar said we need more immigration judges at the border to make the process more efficient and that “Title 42 is a public health issue. It is a mixed message that the White House sends. How can we still have a public health issue order extended for 90 days and then say there is no health issue and get rid of Title 42? All it does – it becomes a marketing process for the cartels to attract more people to the United States.

He added, “[W]We can work with Mexico, provide them with more resources. Or…right now, the coyotes are moving from, say, Guatemala to Mexico. Some of them never make it. If it’s a young woman, a cartel might say, you’re gonna stay here and work for us. Or it’s a young man, they say, you look strong, we’ll get you in on this. So why not make asylum in these countries and then fly them in? $500 a ticket will be much cheaper than paying $8,000 to Mexican cartels. Keep in mind that in six months, over a million people entered the United States in just six months. Multiply that by $8,000, that’s $8 billion the cartels made. Thus, the cartels will be enriched by the disappearance of title 42 on May 23.
