Biden withdraws Radical Banking candidate Saule Omarova

Willow Omarova, President Joe Biden’s candidate for the Comptroller of the Currency, withdrew her nomination Tuesday after Democrats and Republicans opposed her controversial views to wipe out community banks and fossil fuel companies.

Breitbart News has covered extensively Omarova’s appointment as Comptroller of the Currency and her radical views as Cornell Law Professor.

If the Senate confirmed Omarova, she would have had the “most powerful and least responsible” position in the banking system, a former senior government official told Breitbart News in November.

Senators, including Democrats such as Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT), have become increasingly critical of candidate Biden as Breitbart News and other organizations reveal his controversial take on the US banking system .

Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) told Breitbart News in late October that Omarova’s support for “communist ideals” disqualifies her for the job, a move that prompted Tester to oppose her appointment.

In her academic work, she called for eliminating all bank accounts and transferring all bank deposits to “FedAccounts” at the Federal Reserve, the country’s central bank.

Speaking of FedAccounts, the former senior government official said: “In the last two administrations the Democratic Party wants the government to essentially take over many financial functions from the banks.”

Breitbart News Economics Editor-in-Chief John Carney noted that Omarova would end community banking as we know it if the Senate upholds it.

Omarova also called for the creation of a central bank digital currency, or CBDC, which would grant the federal government massive control over Americans’ financial activity.

She even complained once that the “massive digitization of finance,” which includes digital currencies like Bitcoin, wrested control of Americans’ money from the government.

Omarova has also been criticized after saying she wanted to bankrupt fossil fuel companies to facilitate climate change policies.

“A lot of small players in this [coal, oil, and natural gas] the industry is likely to go bankrupt in a short time – at least we want it to go bankrupt if we are to tackle climate change, right? Omarova added.

When she was appointed to the Senate, she blamed her call for phasing out the fossil fuel industry on “bad wording.”

Omarova also ignited controversy after refusing to pledge not to politicize lending in a manner similar to the Obama administration’s infamous Operation Choke Point.

Carney also wrote an op-ed for Breitbart News, noting that Democrats and establishment media such as New York magazine engaged in a cover-up of his opinions ahead of his Senate nomination hearing.

the new york magazine Omarova’s puff piece said criticisms of her academic work were “ridiculous red bait.” The establishment’s outlet also allowed Omarova to distort her own opinions, including not citing her own newspapers.

Many Senate Democrats have claimed Republicans have been “attacking” Omarova since she graduated from Moscow State University in 1989.

Omarova refused to disclose her thesis, “Karl Marx’s Economic Analysis and The Theory of Revolution in The capitalTo the Senate Banking Committee, as Pat Toomey, a ranking member of the Senate Banking Committee, has repeatedly requested.

Despite Omarova’s defense by Senate Democrats, many Democrats remained concerned about his radical views, which led to their opposition to Omarova’s confirmation.

Sense. Tester, Mark Warner (D-VA) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) called Senate Banking Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown (D-OH) on Wednesday evening, announcing their opposition to the controller candidate. Senators John Hickenlooper (D-CO) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ) also announced their opposition to her, effectively leaking her confirmation.

Despite bipartisan opposition to her appointment, Brown said in a statement Tuesday that Omarova had been the victim of “Red Fear McCarthyism:”

Despite her undisputed expertise and bipartisan track record, powerful interests have distorted the opinions and writings of Professor Omarova. In a relentless smear campaign reminiscent of Red Fear McCarthyism, they shamefully attacked his family, his heritage, and his commitment to American ideals. I am disappointed that these spurious attacks and misrepresentation of Professor Omarova’s views were not categorically rejected in a bipartisan fashion.

One thing is clear: we need regulators at OCC and beyond who are not in the pockets of Wall Street – officials who will make sure the economy works for everyone and who will protect our economic recovery. risky, unregulated Wall Street activities. technology companies.

He added, “I will continue to work with the Biden administration to fill these positions that are critical to our economy.”
