President Joe Biden is paying federal contractors more than $3 million every day not to build a border wall along the United States-Mexico border, said Sen. Joni Ernst (R- AI).
During an exclusive interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart Daily NewsErnst detailed his latest legislation called the BUILD IT Act which would return unused border wall materials, already paid for by US taxpayers, to states who could then continue to build the border barrier.
In January 2021, Biden halted all border wall construction.
“[My legislation] donates these unused materials, which were purchased to build the southern border fence, to any state that wishes to complete the work. What we did – we bought those materials,” Ernst said.
“Joe Biden called off the construction of a border wall along the southern border, calling it a waste of money,” she continued. “But since he canceled that contract, the administration has continued to pay more than $3 million every day to contractors to monitor these unused materials.”
“So why are we paying people to monitor materials that he says won’t be used in this administration? Why not let the state governments that want to build a border wall do the talking? said Ernest.
In April, Breitbart News revealed in exclusive footage how much the Biden administration is spending taxpayers’ money to leave giant holes in the 30-foot-tall border wall along California’s border with Mexico.jbinder
“While these materials are lying around out there in the desert, we know there is also theft. So we need to protect materials that have already been purchased by the federal government and allow states to use them,” Ernst said.
“Instead, we are wasting a lot more money every day. … Think about the year and a half since they canceled that project – $3 million a day. It’s just wasted money…for nothing,” she continued.
In 2021, the Biden administration oversaw more than two million border crossings on the southern border — the highest rate of illegal immigration in American history. Similarly, from February 2021 to April 2022, the Biden administration released at least 954,000 cross-border workers and illegal aliens from US communities.
Ernst noted that record illegal immigration under Biden often exceeds the population of major US cities and states.
“Last year we saw over two million border crossings. … We have ten states in the United States that don’t even have two million people,” Ernst said.
“If you don’t think it’s going to affect our country, because we’d have a lot more people, kids in school, maybe their parents paying taxes or not. … There are a lot of local implications for having so many undocumented people entering the United States. So it is a problem and it affects the daily life of every citizen,” she continued.
Today, there are between 11 and 22 million illegal aliens living in the United States, costing American taxpayers approximately $143 billion each year.
