The German chancellor called the Republican favorite a divisive while praising the incumbent president for his experience
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has voiced his support for Joe Biden in next year’s US presidential election, saying the incumbent president is better placed to take the top job thanks to his vast political experience.
Speaking to students at an elementary school near Berlin on Monday, Scholz was asked who he wants to win, Biden or Trump. He replied that thethe current president is betterand that he hopes to be re-elected, arguing that this 80-year-old Democrat knows “what you must do to prevent the world from going to war.”
Regarding Trump, the Chancellor said that “former president … represents a great division in the country,» and the United States will not have «Good futureif he wins in 2024.
A Morning Consult poll released last week indicated that Trump is far ahead of all Republican primary contenders, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has yet to officially announce his candidacy.
Another Big Data survey shows that if the general election were held this month, Biden would lose to Trump, with the Republican getting 45% of the vote to Biden’s 38.1%.
