Bhagwant Mann appears in court in two-year-old riot case

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann appeared in a local court on Saturday in a riot case filed against him more than two years ago. During his appearance in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court, Mann was represented by former General Counsel Anmol Rattan Sidhu.

Responding to a question about his court appearance, CM Mann said his party staged a protest against the then Congress government for demanding a reduction in electricity rates. Water cannons were used (against us) and later a case was filed against us at that time, Mann said while speaking to reporters here.

The case was filed against Mann and some other party leaders for rioting, assault, obstructing police in the performance of their duties during a party protest held in January 2020. Amarinder Singh was the minister in leader of Punjab at the time when the AAP was in opposition. .
