Bethesda Makes Free Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Available to Those Who Received the Game via PlayStation Plus Collection

Bethesda has made Fallout 4’s free next-gen update available to those who received the game through PlayStation Plus Collection.

Not everyone who received Fallout 4 via PlayStation Plus was able to upgrade to the native PlayStation 5 version for free when the update went live last week, causing confusion among PlayStation players. Bethesda eventually made it available to those who own Fallout 4 through a PlayStation Plus Extra subscription, seemingly leaving those who picked up the game through the PlayStation Plus Collection promotion out in the cold.

However, Bethesda has now made the next-gen update available to all PS Plus subscribers, including those who received Fallout 4 through the PlayStation Plus Collection. In a statementBethesda said this was always “intentional.”

“Thank you for letting us know that some PS Plus subscribers were unable to access the free next-gen update for Fallout 4 on PlayStation,” Bethesda said. “This issue has now been successfully resolved. Subscribers who have already received Fallout 4 from the PlayStation Plus Collection should now be able to access the update as planned.

PS Plus Collection was a promotion that offered PS5 owners subscribed to PS Plus a number of PS4 games to play on their new console, including Bloodborne, Persona 5, and the aforementioned Fallout 4. It was removed from PS Plus in May last year.

Fallout 4’s next-gen update had a rocky launch, and the update launched at the same time for the PC version of the game had its own technical problems. Xbox players found that their version lacked the promised quality mode. Bethesda tweeted to say that the next-gen update on Xbox Series
