Ben White returns to Arsenal as injury problem blocks England’s call for Nations League clash

White struggled to stay fit towards the end of the season as a hamstring injury disrupted his final weeks of the campaign.

The centre-back played no part in Arsenal’s final game of the season against Everton but was named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for both Hungary games and the games against England. Germany and Italy next month.

White, however, has now had to pull out of the squad due to injury and he will undergo rehabilitation at Arsenal.

No replacements have been called up by Southgate and that means they have 26 players for next month’s four games.

The majority of that squad traveled to St. George’s Park on Monday ahead of England’s game in Hungary on Saturday.

However, Raheem Sterling, Kieran Trippier and James Ward-Prowse will arrive on Tuesday as will Trent Alexander-Arnold following his appearance in the Champions League final.
