Ben Affleck Reveals ‘Miserable’ Time He Almost Left Hollywood: ‘I Started Drinking Too Much’
Ben Affleck talks about the moment that almost made him leave Hollywood for good.
During his extensive career as an actor, producer and director, Affleck revealed that he fell into a dark place while filming “Justice League” in 2016.
“(‘Justice League’) made me say, ‘I’m out. I don’t ever want to do this again. I’m not suited.’ It was the worst experience I’ve ever seen in a company that’s full of shitty experiences. It broke my heart,” Affleck said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“And I started drinking too much. I was back at the hotel in London, it was either that or jumping out the window. And I just thought, ‘That’s not life. I want. My children are not here. I am miserable.'”
The Oscar-winning actor shared that working on ‘Justice League’ left a “monstrous taste” in his mouth and ultimately caused him to scrap plans to direct his own ‘Batman’ movie.
The “miserable” experience stems from the fact that the film’s original director, Zack Snyder, left mid-production due to a death in his family.

“There was an idea of someone coming in, like, ‘I’m going to save you and we’ll do 60 days of filming and I’ll write everything about what you have. I have the secret.’ And that wasn’t the secret. It was hard,” Affleck said.
Although Affleck wanted to get out, “Justice League” became the highest-rated movie of his Hollywood career.
