Belgium to send 240 military trucks to Ukraine | ukraine news

The Belgian Ministry of Defense plans to hand over 240 military trucks to Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the Brussels Times, reports a correspondent of Ukrinform.

The first Volvo Cargo, Volvo Shelter, Volvo Fassi and Volvo Manumat vehicles are expected to be delivered next week. They will be used to transport troops and equipment to the front line.

The Belgian army has a reserve of around 400 Volvo Cargo, Volvo Shelter, Volvo Fassi and Volvo Manumat vehicles. This includes freight models, lift vehicles and tow trucks. These vehicles will be phased out and replaced with newer vehicles this year.

According to the Belgian Department of Defense Material Resources, the phasing out of the vehicles has been planned for several years, but their replacement has been “turbocharged” by the war in Ukraine. Thus, the Belgian army can transfer the majority to the Ukrainian army.

These trucks have been in service since 1992, but remain in good condition. All vehicles must be inspected and refurbished if necessary before being shipped to Eastern Europe. In addition, the Belgian side will send spare parts and instruction manuals for the trucks.
