Beijing probes bar staff linked to Covid-19 outbreak as cases spread

BEIJING — Chinese police are investigating staff at a Beijing bar that has become a Covid-19 hotspot, authorities said on Tuesday, as an outbreak linked to the venue has spread across the city for a week only after the reopening of many businesses in the capital.

All 287 cases reported in Beijing in the past six days have been linked to Heaven Supermarket Bar in the capital’s Sanlitun district, local health officials said on Tuesday. The bar managers are under criminal investigation on suspicion of obstructing Covid prevention measures, a Beijing Public Security Bureau spokesman told a press conference on Tuesday.
