Behaviour to lay off up to 95 employees

Behavior Interactive will lay off up to 95 employees, including 70 at its Montreal office, the company announced.

In a press release, the company announced “structural changes” to pursue a “clarified vision”, which led it to make the decision to lay off staff.

The studio shared its growth trajectory, growing from 575 to 1,300 employees over the past five years, saying it has expanded following remarkable growth in the industry. “However, the industry’s unprecedented popularity has also led to unprecedented competition,” the company wrote, saying it was now focusing on its “historic strengths,” including horror.

The development of Dead by Daylight is not affected by these changes, he adds, nor are the services activities of Behavior.

Co-founder and CEO Rémi Racine commented: “I would like to express my deep personal appreciation to any employees affected by today’s changes. Although changes to our structure and strategic vision have led to some difficult decisions, we are confident that these decisions will position us for continued success.

“As we embark on the next phase of Behavior’s growth, our commitment to excellence in our products and company culture remains unwavering.”

Layoffs already hit Behavior’s Montreal studio earlier this year, representing 3% of its global workforce.

The company acquired media production company Fly Studio last March for an undisclosed amount.
