Beach Volleyball Preview: In Chattanooga with North Alabama

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee. – The UNCW beach volleyball team completes its spring break trip Thursday against host Chattanooga and North Alabama at the UTC Sports Complex.
The Seahawks, who at 7-3 are off to the second-best start in program history, take on host Mocs at noon and close out the day with a 2 p.m. start against UNA.
UNCW swept Eckerd earlier this week in St. Petersburg 4-1, 3-2 to move to 7-3 this season. After picking up a win in Game 1, the Seahawks trailed the Tritons 2-0 after opening Game 2 with back-to-back straight-set losses in fourth and fifth pairing.
Grace Sistrunk and Ashley Thompson sparked the comeback with a convincing 21-4, 21-10 victory in the second and third pairings of Ellie Bucci and Tessa Rogers drew the Seahawks even at 2-all with a 21-14, 21-17 victory.
Mattie Johnson and Sadie Sharkey would give the Seahawks the double win with a 21-16 in the first set and edged the Tritons in the second set, 23-21.
UNCW shut out UTC, 5-0, in the 2020 season in the only meeting between the two programs.
After Thursday’s matchup, the Seahawks return home to face Eastern Kentucky in a doubleheader on March 15 at 1 p.m.
