Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of right-back Sacha Boey from Galatasaray.
The 23-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half year contract which will keep him at the Bundesliga club until at least June 2028.
He said: “It’s a dream come true for me. It’s an honor for me to be able to play for such a big club like Bayern. I’m really looking forward to joining my new team and being able to play with all these great players in the future.
“As a player, I am a defender who loves to attack, as happy to be involved up front as in defense.”
Christoph Freund, Bayern sporting director, added: “Sacha Boey is a very fast and physically strong right-back, who covers a lot of ground in every game and does not shy away from any tackle.
“He was one of the Galatasaray fans’ favourites, developed very well over the years, comes with Champions League experience and won the league title with Galatasaray last season. He will increase our quality in defense.
Bayern wanted to sign a right-back during the January transfer window and considered several options. Athleticism reported that they had a €15 million (£12.8 million, $16.2 million) offer turned down by Newcastle United for Kieran Trippier.
Nordi Mukiele, who spent four years at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga before joining Paris Saint-Germain, was also on Bayern’s shortlist. However, the negotiations proved difficult.
As well as Galatasaray, Boey also had stints at Rennes and Dijon.
He has played 31 times in all competitions this season, scoring twice.
After 11 consecutive Bundesliga titles, is the 2023-24 season escaping Bayern?
