Batmobile Buyer Sam Anagnostou Pulls Out of Scheduled Interview with ABC7 News I-Team

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Atherton realtor and Batmobile buyer Sam Anagnostou decided not to interview I-Team’s Dan Noyes this week, after scheduling a one-on-one at ABC7 studios in San Francisco.

Anagnostou’s lawyer, Majeed Samara, told us he was concerned about the discussion of evidence during a criminal investigation and that his client had received harassing phone calls and text messages, some threatening.

Samara told I-Team that Anagnostou will be available next week to discuss the case.

As we first reported last week, sources within the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department told I-Team that Anagnostou called on his friend, Sheriff Carlos Bolanos, to for him to intervene as he felt that the production of the Batmobile he had ordered was taking too long.

The 1966 Batmobile replica from the TV show is built under license to DC Comics by Fiberglass Freaks of Logansport, Indiana.

On July 19, in what is being described as a highly unusual move, Sheriff Bolanos sent a lieutenant, a sergeant and two deputies from Redwood City more than 2,000 miles to raid the Batmobile’s garage.

They froze the bank account of Batmobile builder Mark Racop and charged him with two crimes.

The I-Team’s exclusive report has sparked nationwide backlash and calls on Sheriff Bolanos to step down.
