WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW concludes an eight-game homestand to open the season on Wednesday when it hosts longtime rival Coastal Carolina at 4 p.m.
The Chanticleers are on a five-game winning streak in Wednesday’s game and are 6-1. The Seahawks (5-2), meanwhile, saw their five-game winning streak snapped last weekend with a pair of losses to Rutgers on Saturday.
The game is the first of a home-and-away series this season that sees the Seahawks visit Conway, South Carolina, on April 5.
UNCW won the three-game series against Coastal. The Chants won Game 1, 8-2, before the Seahawks picked up victories in the final two contests in late April.
Seahawk junior infielder red jersey Brooks Baldwin continues his torrid start to the season batting .484 with six extra hits and seven stolen bases in the midweek contest.
For the Chants, who are hitting .340 as a team, Dale Thomas powered the offense, hitting .375 with eight extra hits and 12 RBIs.
The Seahawks hit the road for the first time this season when they visit Appalachia State for a three-game series starting Friday at 4 p.m.
