Barkov leads Panthers to 5-2 win over Blackhawks – NBC Chicago

Aleksander Barkov had a goal and two assists as the Florida Panthers beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2 on Sunday for their third straight victory.

Aaron Ekblad, Brandon Montour, MacKenzie Weegar and Anton Lundell also scored as Eastern Conference leaders Florida won for the seventh time in eight games and ended a five-game road trip at 4-1 -0.

The Panthers are 3-0 after the All-Star break and gel when away from South Florida. They are an impressive 23-3-0 at home and improved to 12-7-5 on the road.

According to Florida coach Andrew Brunette, the high-scoring Panthers don’t have to be flashy all the time.

“I think we’ve been handling the road game pretty well lately,” Brunette said. “I sometimes (before) thought we were doing a bit of firefighting. We have so much talent and we can play at a pretty high level at some point, we can get carried away a bit.

“I think we’ve done a great job on this trip of playing road hockey. Whatever they give us, we take. We’re getting through it and finding ways to score and do the right things.
