Barcelona have announced that their B-team boss Sergi Barjuan has been appointed interim first-team head coach.
He replaces Ronald Koeman, who was sacked on Wednesday after Barca’s loss to Rayo Vallecano.
Club legend Xavi has been strongly linked with the Dutchman’s permanent replacement.
But for now, the LaLiga club have temporarily promoted Barcelona coach B Barjuan to the first team.
A club statement read: “FC Barcelona hereby announce that Sergi Barjuan, the current coach of Barça B, will temporarily take over the technical management of the senior squad. The first team will end as soon as the club hires a full-time head coach to replace the fired Ronald Koeman.
“FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta will officially introduce Sergi Barjuan to the first team this afternoon ahead of training at Ciutat Esportiva.”
