Bank of New York Mellon CEO Todd Gibbons resigns

Bank of New York Mellon Corp. chief executive Todd Gibbons plans to retire, following a nearly three-year tenure in which he led the depository bank through the upheaval of the coronavirus pandemic.

The company is expected to announce Thursday that it is appointing Vice Chairman Robin Vince, a former partner at Goldman Sachs Group Inc., as CEO. Mr. Gibbons will step down on August 31, with Mr. Vince serving as president and CEO-elect until then. Mr. Vince is also expected to replace Mr. Gibbons on the bank’s board.
