The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced that versatile player Shakib-Al-Hasan will rest during the month of April from all forms of international cricket. The left-handed hitter and bowler was previously scheduled to tour South Africa for a series but will not be traveling with the team at this time.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that versatile player Shakib-Al-Hasan will not play any form of international cricket for the month of April. Previously, Shakib was supposed to tour South Africa with the Bangladeshi team, but that won’t happen for the time being.
Earlier this month, Shakib-Al-Hasan’s comments regarding his mental health caused a storm on social media. Speaking to the media, Chairman of BCB Cricket Operation Jalal Yunus said: “He is mentally stressed and tired. He told me that at that time he did not like any form of cricket”.
“He always said one thing he doesn’t appreciate, unfit and not ready. Since he is ‘mentally tired and physically stressed’, after discussion with CEO and President, we decided to let him rest from all forms of cricket until April 30.”
He further added and said: “Shakib is a versatile player, an important player for us. We have the World Cup coming up, we want it for another great series and if a player wants to jump and not take advantage, we want to give him complete rest and spend time with his family.
The versatile player from Bangladesh was not chosen by any team in this year’s IPL auction which was held in Bengaluru last month.
