The YMCA director said the facility has a policy that if they don’t see a resident within 48 hours, they check them out. When someone checked the woman’s apartment, they found her dead inside.

“Anyone who participates in the program, we check them regularly and we call these wellness checks,” said YMCA President James Morton. “So if we didn’t see someone or if they were supposed to be in a meeting and didn’t show up, we would go check them out.”
The baby was taken to hospital as a precaution.
