“They both play unreal. I’ve been around them a bit – they’re both having a lot of fun. If they keep doing that, they’ll be pretty hard to beat.”

Earlier in the tournament, Hijikata said they were “both as ignorant as each other” when asked who the team leader was.

Wheelchair tennis legend Dylan Alcott has suggested inexperience could work in their favor as the opposition struggle to play against her.

Inglis agreed that was the case earlier in the tournament.

As they prepared for their first Grand Slam final, she said the duo were having fun above all else.

“I watch the warm-ups…they take their shirts off, they do weird little kicks,” she said.

“They’re having so much fun, they really get along…it comes together on the court.”

The men’s doubles final will take place at the Rod Laver Arena tomorrow evening following the ladies’ singles final.
