Audio of rescue effort deleted by Miami-Dade

A Miami-Dade County employee has deleted critical audio files chronicling search and rescue efforts from the frantic first hours of the Surfside condo collapse, one of the deadliest disasters in US history , according to a USA TODAY survey.

The audio included communications Miami-Dade Fire Rescue tactical teams had with central dispatchers as they searched for survivors in the aftermath of the June 24 disaster that struck the Champlain Towers South condominium at 1:23 a.m.
