Auburn man arrested for shooting at Waffle House with people inside

AUBURN, Alabama (WRBL) – An Auburn man is charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied building after a weekend shooting, alleging he sprayed bullets into the Waffle House on South College Street.

On March 20, Auburn police arrested Keyare Ahmun Cobb, 29, of Auburn on a felony warrant.

The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected, authorities said. Cobb was rushed to Lee County Jail and held on $50,000 bond.

The shooting with injuries occurred early Sunday morning at the Waffle House located at 2167 S College St. in Auburn, according to police.

Plywood covers the side of the restaurant where it was damaged by bullets.

According to police, on March 20 they responded to a report of gunshots and found evidence of gunshots at the scene, and confirmed that a nearby business had been hit in the incident.

During the investigation, a person receiving treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was located at East Alabama Medical Center.

Police have confirmed that the injury was related to the subject’s involvement in the incident. Police have not identified this subject as Cobb.

Arrest warrants are pending for those who have been identified as having participated in the incident, with additional charges expected as the investigation continues.
