Manchester United end their pre-season campaign with a double-header against Spanish opposition.
The opener is a repeat of last season’s Champions League round of 16, with United meeting Atletico Madrid in Oslo.
While all the usual caveats apply to pre-season friendlies, this is another interesting test for Erik Ten Hag’s side. Admittedly, there isn’t much about Diego Simeone and Atletico that screams ‘uncompetitive’, although the game won’t be as fiery as it was a few months ago.
Again, it’s important not to put too much emphasis on pre-season, but United have shown promising signs. Having already beaten Liverpool, a win against another Champions League level side would be something of a statement.
Here’s everything you need to know about the game.
Date, kick-off time and venue
The pre-season friendly is scheduled to kick off at 12.45pm BST on Saturday July 30, 2022.
The Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo will host.

Atletico Madrid vs Manchester United Team News
It remains extremely unlikely that Cristiano Ronaldo will be amid further doubts over his future. The 37-year-old was put on probation at the club’s training base in Carrington after returning for talks following his transfer request, although Ronaldo still appears keen to leave.
New signings Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez played in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Carrington, but it’s worth bearing in mind United face Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, so Ten Hag will likely split his selection between the two matches.
For Atletico, a strong squad consisting of Jan Oblak, Thomas Lemar and Alvaro Morata is expected.
