In mid-summer 2022, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney (D) suggested that only police should be allowed to carry guns.
FOX News reported that Kenney spoke to reporters after two Philadelphia police officers were shot and wounded on July 4.
McKinney reflected on July 4, saying, “It was a cool day, beautiful weather. But we live in America where we have the second amendment and we have the United States Supreme Court telling everyone they can carry a gun anywhere they want.
He noted: “I was in Canada two weeks ago and never thought of a gun. The only people I knew who had guns in Canada were police officers.
McKinney added: “That’s how it should be here.”
