Arsenal transfer news: Edu insists ‘strategy’ will be to add ‘one or two players’

RSenal technical director Edu has revealed the club will focus on signing ‘one or two players’ this summer.

Mikel Arteta was backed during the last summer window, bringing in six players as the Spaniard sought to develop the squad he inherited from Unai Emery, who in turn worked with a squad that had become stale under Arsene Wenger .

Part of Arsenal’s model has been to focus on developing young players under Arteta, who has significantly reduced the team’s average age, while also moving Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of the club.

In large part, the recruited players have had a positive impact at the Emirates and could yet bring Arsenal back to the Champions League next season.

Still, the club have been criticized for their lack of action in the January transfer window and their decision not to invest will likely face even more scrutiny if they slip out of the top four.

Edu, however, revealed that the club will focus on quality rather than quantity.

“We’re going to focus on signing one or two players,” he told ESPN.

“After last summer’s revolution, we need the next step.

” We have [got] our strategy is ready.
