The Gunners opened the scoring in five minutes through Martin Odegaard but they were quickly caught by Cucho Hernandez.
Mikel Arteta’s side regained their lead on the half-hour through Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli added a third after the break.

Aaron Ramsdale 6
Could do nothing against Watford’s goal, which was a superb strike from Cucho. The cast wasn’t at its best, however, compared to its usual level.
In Takehiro Tomiyasu’s absence, the Portugal international is in decent form. Played well today and contributed to Arsenal’s third goal.
Ben White 6
Was pretty solid for most of the game but will be disappointed with Watford’s second goal as Sissoko rose to his challenge before scoring.
Not as dominant as they usually are and Watford caused Arsenal problems in the first half, particularly on the counter.
Kieran Tierney 5
Really struggled today and wasn’t at his best. Watford had all their joy on the left of Arsenal, with Kiko Femenia overlapping. Perhaps Tierney needed more support from Martinelli.
Thomas Partey 8
The days when he rated his own performances as four out of 10 seem like an age ago. Put on another great display in midfield and sometimes run the show.
Xhaka Granite 7
Come quietly go about your business in the middle of the park. He rarely took the wrong foot, until very late when he was partly responsible for Watford’s second goal.
Bukayo Saka 9 | star man
Simply a brilliant performance from the winger, who netted a goal and an assist in the first 30 minutes. Terrorized the Watford defense all game.
Martin Odegaard 9
Getting better and better with every game he plays. Opened the scoring with a nice goal and was excellent all afternoon.
Gabriel Martinelli 7
Had a fairly quiet game but then came alive by scoring Arsenal’s third goal. He finished this chance very well and proves to be a dangerous weapon left.
Alexandre Lacazette 7
We can rightly wonder about his lack of goals, but he still brings a lot to this Arsenal team. Ended the game with two assists and tied the game well.
Nicolas Pepe (Martinelli 72′) 6
I have another chance to impress late. Did some great runs and was snappy for his 20 minutes.
Eddie Nketiah (Lacazette 79′) 6
A bright little cameo from the striker, who hit the post with a nice effort.
