Arsenal have been linked with a surprise move to sign Tammy Abraham from London rivals Chelsea in a deal that could reach £ 40million.
However, a former Gunners star told talkSPORT that the 23-year-old Englishman is NOT a top Premier League striker, not worth that much money and would be a better fit for West Ham.
It is widely reported that Chelsea are keen to get rid of Abraham this summer, the striker clearly not being favored by Thomas Tuchel … despite being the club’s top scorer last season.
Abraham finished the campaign with 12 goals, the same total as Timo Werner, although he played around half the number of games as the German striker.
He has been linked with many moves, including Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund, as possible weight in a deal for Erling Haaland, while reports have claimed Chelsea plan to offer him to West Ham as part of a deal that could see Declan Rice return to Stamford Bridge.
But according to The Sun, Arsenal have become the favorites for his signing, with the Gunners apparently close to making an initial loan deal for Abraham, with the obligation to make the deal permanent next summer for £ 40million. sterling.
Former Chelsea and West Ham forward Carlton Cole is among those who have urged Abraham to prioritize his career and leave Stamford Bridge – as he did – and join the Hammers.
And ex-Arsenal star Perry Groves did not seem so enthusiastic about reports linking the striker to the Emirates, instead saying he would be a perfect fit for the London stadium.

Asked if he was good enough to lead the line at a big Premier League club, the ex-gunner said on Drivetime: “No I don’t think he is.
“I don’t think he’s at this level because he’s missing too many chances. He is not calm enough in his finish.
“He had a brilliant season under Frank Lampard where he scored 15 goals in 34 appearances, but Chelsea were creating plenty of chances and they were still missing a lot.
“His overall game has improved under Lampard, to be fair, but it’s an addition. You are not judged on your general play, your heist play, as an attacker, you are judged on your finish.
“If you play for Chelsea, and we’ve seen Werner miss a lot of chances this season, so does Kai Havertz, but if you play for the top four clubs you’re going to score two or three expected goals in each game, and you have to take some. at least one.
“I don’t think he’s quite at this level.
“He had two brilliant seasons in the league with Aston Villa and Bristol City, but I think he still has a lot to prove.
“If I were him, he has to go play now, he has to play first team football.
“Thomas Tuchel doesn’t want him at all, sometimes last season he wasn’t even in the team, he wasn’t even on the bench.
“So he has to go play and he might be suitable for West Ham… depending on how much it’s going to cost.
“He’s Chelsea’s top scorer, England, young, I think he’s probably worth around £ 30million. I think a royalty like £ 45million would be too much.
“I think a move to West Ham would suit him. He is not among the top four forwards in the Premier League.
