Arsenal goalkeeper Ramsdale relishes clash with Ronaldo

The pair will face off on Thursday when Arsenal travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

Ramsdale has started life well at Arsenal since joining Sheffield United this summer for an initial £ 24million.

And now the keeper can’t wait to take on Ronaldo, who returned to the Premier League this summer after leaving Juventus.

“I never thought I would play against Ronaldo, but I really hope he is against us because it gives me a chance to test myself,” Ramsdale said.

“As much as you want to go somewhere like this (Old Trafford), there is no better feeling than getting the better of someone and saying that I had an uphill battle with Ronaldo.”

Arsenal have had a shaky start to the season, losing their first three Premier League games but have rebounded since then.

They enter this weekend’s game with Newcastle, were fifth in the Premier League and Ramsdale believes there is cause for optimism.

“You are looking at some of the players over the last few weeks who have even played such crucial roles like Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka who are kind of kids,” Ramsdale added.

“We prove people wrong every week and don’t put a cap on what we can get and how much we can do.”
