Picking up the ball in the penalty area, Odegaard moved the ball to his left foot and looked ready to let go with an effort to test Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Unfortunately for him, Rodri’s strong challenge wiped out the playmaker and led to his effort being blocked and steered away from danger.

Even more surprisingly, Norway didn’t even receive a penalty for the challenge which left Odegaard in a heap on the floor.

While clutching his ankle, the midfielder managed to get back to his feet and continued playing as Norway looked to recover from a one-goal deficit in their Euro 2024 qualifier.

Rodri’s challenge to Odegaard is seen by some Arsenal fans as premeditated as the Premier League title race comes to a head.

The Gunners hold an eight-point lead over Man City at the top of the table, despite having played one game more than Pep Guardiola’s side.

According to some fans on social media, the challenge may have been with this title race in mind, with one fan saying: “Rodri will try again. It’s no coincidence.

Another fan wrote: ‘Get Odegaard out, that Rodri guy might be on a mission’, while someone else said: ‘I hope Odegaard brings Rodri back.’

Another Arsenal fan then wrote: “No way it’s a coincidence.”
