Thierry Henry confirmed to Sky Sports that Daniel Ek has “reached out” to the Kroenke family to present an offer to buy Arsenal.
Ek has written to Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke and is expected to make a £ 1.8bn offer for the north London club before the end of the week.
The Spotify owner is confident Kroenke will listen to the offer – which he considers compelling – and has the full support of Henry and his fellow Arsenal legends Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp.
Henry, speaking on Monday night football, said Ek would not drop his offer to take over Arsenal, regardless of the Kroenkes’ stance that the club is not for sale.
“He’s already – I’ll give you something – has reached out [to the Kroenkes] and has already said he raised the funds to make sure he could make a good offer, ”said Henry Sky Sports at Monday night football.
“Now they need to listen. A lot of people have been shouting that they want the owner to come out. We are trying to come up with a solution involving the fans and getting the DNA of the club back.
“There must be a discussion, but he held out his hand.
He added: “I think it’s going to be long and not easy if it happens. One thing I want to reiterate is that Daniel won’t be leaving, he will be there to see if they want to sell.
“It’s going to take a long time, we know what we want to do, but first and foremost we have to make sure that we can take over, if they are listening.”
