Arsenal 4-2 Leicester: Gabriel Jesus shines on Emirates debut to tame foxes

abriel Jesus was instrumental in all four of Arsenal’s goals as Leicester were beaten at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The summer signing netted twice in the first half and probably should have scored a hat-trick, before scoring goals for Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Martinelli after the break.

On his home debut after moving from Manchester City, he put Arsenal ahead in the 23rd minute and made it 2-0 with a close-range header from a poacher in the 35th.

Leicester had a lifeline when William Saliba, also making his home debut, headed for his own net eight minutes after the break, but almost immediately an error by Leicester goalkeeper Danny Ward allowed Granit Xhaka to restore Arsenal’s two-goal lead.

James Maddison gave Leicester hope again when his shot went through the legs of Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, but the hosts responded quickly with Gabriel Martinelli finding the bottom corner thanks to an assist from Jesus.

It was a vibrant performance from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side who have six points from their first two games.
