Tourist arrivals more than quadrupled at the end of the first five months of 2022, proportionate to the same period of the previous year, rising from 501.2 thousand to 2.3 million people, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Expenditures (DEPF). These arrivals are divided between foreign tourists (51%) and Moroccans residing abroad – MRE (49%), specifies the DEPF which has just published its economic report for the month of June 2022. These favorable trends have been confirmed with the resumption of arrivals recorded during the month of May 2022, i.e. 801,179 tourists, said the same source. Compared to arrivals recorded in May 2019 (pre-crisis period), the number of tourists arriving at border posts has accumulated by 11%, notes the DEPF.
