One soldier died and three were missing after a group of Indian Army climbers were caught in an avalanche on Mount Kun in Ladakh, officials said Monday.
According to Indian Army officials, a contingent of around 40 military personnel from the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) and the Indian Army’s Adventure Wing took part in activities on Sunday. routine training near Mount Kun (Ladakh).
Unfortunately, during their training climb, the group encountered an unexpected avalanche. “Four of our dedicated employees were trapped below. The mortal remains of one person affected by the avalanche have been found,” they added.
Despite the bad weather and heavy snow accumulation, search and rescue operations are continuing to locate and recover other people trapped under the huge snow deposit, they added.
