Apple would have stopped its internal Wi-Fi chip project

Apple is fighting to reduce its reliance on third-party vendors by taking component manufacturing in-house. Just as it did with its A-series mobile chipsets and M-series SoCs, Cupertino would bring in-house wireless chips, 5G modems and even screen production for its iPhones, Apple Watch and Macs. .
One Analyst’s Latest Semiconductor Survey Ming Chi Kuo says Apple will backtrack on its Wi-Fi chip development and continue to rely on Broadcom as its primary supplier. Apple devotes most of its IC design resources to developing its chipset. Kuo also mentions that Apple always prioritizes its 5G modem development over the Wi-Fi chip project.
Apple will likely upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E in its upcoming iPhone 15 models and the rest of its product portfolio. Kuo confirmed that Apple’s Wi-Fi + Bluetooth combo chip is still in the works. Mark Gurman also confirmed that Apple is still working on the Wi-Fi + Bluetooth combo chip.
