The Dane Anthon Charmig (Uno-X) won the third stage of the Tour of Oman, this Saturday, and donned the red leader’s jersey, which was owned by the British Mark Cavendish (Quick-Step).
Charmig beat Czech Jan Hirt (Intermarché) and Frenchman Elie Gesbert (Arkéa) over the finish line, while Cavendish was not in contention for victory, finishing 82nd.
In the general classification, Charmig has a four second advantage over Hirt and eight over Gesbert. The Portuguese Rui Costa (UAE) is 4th at 12 seconds, ahead of the Estonian Rein Taaramäe (Intermarché), 5th at 14 seconds.
Cavendish is in 69th place, almost six minutes behind the new leader.
