Another NJ Wawa closure, not replaced by a Super Store

Another Wawa store in the Garden State is hours away from closing for good.

And as we’ve already lamented, this is one of those old-school Wawa stores located in a strip mall. If you’re a fan of the convenience store chain, you know that over the past few years, these locations have gradually disappeared in favor of Super Wawas.

However, in this case, a megastore will not replace this one.

Not the first to close

Unfortunately, this is the second old-school Wawa in the Garden State to close recently.

Last summer, Wawa in Collings Lakes, Atlantic County, closed after 53 years and was also not replaced by a large, new store.

Next Wawa will close its doors

Although we haven’t been able to find out exactly when this store opened, we now learn that Wawa on Triangle Road in Hillsborough, Somerset County, will be gone for good as of Monday, October 2, according to patch.com.

The store, located along Route 206, is located in a busy area surrounded by many big box stores, but that wasn’t enough to keep the store open.

Wawa officials have not commented to patch.com on the store’s closure, however, many people on Facebook have certainly commented.

This will surely leave a void in Hillsborough.

The good news is that for Hillsborough area residents, you won’t have to travel far to get your favorite cup of coffee, hoagie, or pizza. (Wawa has pizza – have you heard?!).

Other Wawa stores are in the Bound Brook area, just off Interstate 287 and Route 28. Another store is just a few miles down Route 202 before entering Flemington.
