Announcing Apple Watch Series 6 Service Program for Blank Screen Issue: Affected Models, How to Claim

Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 6 service program for the blank screen issue after the company determined that a very small percentage of 40mm Apple Watch Series 6 screens may go permanently blank. The affected wearables were manufactured between April 2021 and September 2021. Users facing this issue can check the serial number of their smartwatch on the official website. If your smartwatch is eligible, you can access service from an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for free. Separately, it was reported late last month that Apple Watch Series 7 fast charging was breaking with the watchOS 8.5 update.

The Apple Watch Series 6 service program for the blank screen issue was announced by the Cupertino, Calif.-based company after it detected a manufacturing defect with its Series 6 smartwatches. According to the company, the screens of a small percentage of the 40mm Apple Watch Series 6 can become permanently empty. The garments concerned come from batches manufactured between April 2021 and September 2021.

The tech giant has made it clear that only eligible smartwatches will receive the free AASP service. The company said repair for eligible wearable devices may be limited to the country or region of original purchase. Users can check the eligibility of their smartwatch for the Apple Watch Series 6 service program by entering the serial number on Apple’s official website.

It was reported last month that the watchOS 8.5 update released for Apple Watch in March broke fast charging support. The update had brought the ability to authorize Apple TV purchases and subscriptions right from the wrist of users. Users can also use audio guidance in Fitness+ with audio feedback of movements visually demonstrated during workouts after the update. But reports said Apple Watch Series 7 users are confirming that watchOS 8.5 appears to break support for fast charging – a feature exclusive to Apple Watch Series 7.
