Anna Marie Tendler clarifies photo apparently about IVF injections

Art does not always imitate life.
That’s exactly what Anna Marie Tendler wants you to know after sharing an Instagram of a woman giving herself what appears to be IVF hormone injections.
“I would like to dispel a common misnomer regarding my work: this is not a photo journal,” said the artist, who has parted ways with John Mulaney in July, wrote in an Instagram story on February 28. “I never comment on anything. I rarely post photos in chronological order. I am a fine artist. There are stand-alone works that speak to the female experience as a whole.”
She continued, “My life has been filled with a million experiences that are harnessed to create a body of work that is about something bigger than me.”
The clarifying post comes just hours after she posted a photo showing what many believed to be her skin pinching on her stomach as she gave herself an injection. As the 36-year-old captioned the snap, ‘Eggs are easy’.
