Shameless and pathetic: ex-governor in disgrace. Andrew Cuomo is kicking off a comeback with a TV ad buy claiming he was exonerated after being removed from his job.
No doubt he will also demand that he collect his Emmy award.
“The political attacks have won and New York has lost a proven leader,” claims the 30-second ad seen by The Post. It highlights the decisions of five district attorneys not to charge Cuomo with sexual harassment — ignoring the fact that those prosecutors (and the House Judiciary Committee report) affirmed the credibility of Cuomo’s accusers — all 11 of them.
As for “railroaded,” Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie said last August, “The Governor has lost the confidence of the Democratic majority in the Assembly and . . . he can no longer remain in office. Shortly after, Cuomo reluctantly resigned.
Even Cuomo’s allies could no longer ignore the evidence that Cuomo had violated the anti-harassment laws he himself had put in place. The court report also found his handling of COVID-related nursing home deaths was inadequate and accused him of using executive personnel, including other state employees, to help him. writing his $5.1 million pandemic memoir.
Which also eviscerates his claims as a “proven leader”.
Expect nothing but cheers from the Bronx for Handsy Andy’s comeback offer, and hope he gets the message and finally does his clear duty: disappear.
