“And just like that”, John Corbett reportedly reprized his role as Aidan Shaw

HBO Max’s ‘Sex and the City’ revival series ‘And Just Like That’ divided fans by killing off a beloved character in its first episode. The second season of the show, however, could mark the return of another.

Deadline reported Friday that John Corbett will be reprising his role as Aidan Shaw for Season 2. While details on the extent of Corbett’s involvement are scarce, the entertainment outlet reported that the actor is “groomed for a substantial multi-episode arc” on the Show.

Contacted by HuffPost, representatives for Corbett and HBO declined to comment on the report. A premiere date for Season 2 has not been announced.

Corbett, last seen in the ABC legal drama “Rebel,” portrayed Aidan Shaw on HBO’s “Sex and the City” from 2000 to 2003. The rustic furniture designer became the occasional boyfriend and later fiance by Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker).

Aidan also appeared in the movie ‘Sex and the City 2’, after meeting Carrie at a market in Abu Dhabi.

Rumors about whether Corbett would appear on “And Just Like That” have swirled since the revival was announced in early 2021. In April, the actor told The New York Post’s Page Six that he was “going to do the show,” adding, “I like all these people, they’ve been really nice to me.

HBO has never confirmed the actor’s involvement, and when “And Just Like That” premiered in December, Aidan was nowhere to be found.

Speaking to Deadline in February, executive producer Michael Patrick King said Aidan’s return was “a big script that everyone back home wrote that we never expected”.

Writer Julie Rottenberg echoed those sentiments, though neither she nor King seemed willing to rule Aidan out of returning to the franchise entirely.

“John Corbett should write personal apology notes,” she said. “We didn’t say anything.”

Corbett, meanwhile, will be reprising another of his beloved characters soon. He recently completed work on the third film “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” in which he plays Ian, the husband of Nia Vardalos’ character Toula.
