In an interview with FRANCE 24 after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, the court’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, said it was an important day for international justice. The warrant marked “the very first time a P5 head of state has been indicted” by the international tribunal, Khan said, referring to the five permanent members of the UN Security Council.
