According to a new study, transgender people who start gender-affirming hormone therapy in adolescence have better mental health than those who wait until adulthood.

The authors of the Stanford University School of Medicine study said the findings illustrate the benefits of allowing young people to pursue transgender medical care at a time when such treatment is targeted by some conservative lawmakers.
