That result was underpinned by more on-field errors, including wasted chances and a missed stump, but Jones believes England are more than capable of righting those wrongs.

“After the West Indies game, we dropped and missed a lot of chances, so we talked about it as a group, obviously not wanting to put huge pressure on the first chance that will come in the next game,” she said in an official statement.

“We just talked about how we want to be really positive, really supportive of each other and just doing the little things right, like attacking the ball and getting good energy. The chances will be created from that and we know our skill level is good enough to take those risks. It’s a shame we missed a few last time around, but with matches coming so fast, you need to look individually if there are any quick learnings you can make. she added.

Jones was one of England’s standout performers against South Africa, contributing to half a century of the inaugural World Cup, and the wicketkeeper admitted it was nice to be in back in the races after a lean period.

“Obviously it’s good to score some points because obviously I’ve been quite short of points recently, so it was a bit of a relief to be honest, but I haven’t changed much.” she says.

“I was having trouble pivoting the shot in the first few games and then I was putting unnecessary pressure on myself so I was just trying to stay relaxed in the slot. I wanted to trust my timing and not try to force it if there were a few points. It was great to start my innings and have this partnership with Tammy (Beaumont),” she added.

England have a good recent record against India and with every game now unmissable for the defending champions, Jones hopes that will come into play when they meet next.

“It really helps” she added. “It’s only natural to look back on the last games you’ve played against them and to have this recent success against them as a group will give us confidence.”

India come into the game having beaten West Indies in their last match by 155 points, taking their record to two wins in three matches, as Harmanpreet Kaur scored a brilliant century.

And Kaur believes batting and bowling partnerships have been key to India’s success so far, something she wants them to repeat when they face England at Maunganui.

“I think in batting great partnerships are important and in bowling the way we build partnerships in particular,” she explained. “I think we are doing very well and those are the things we want to continue in the game against England and the games to come.
