DECATUR, Alabama – Northern Alabamians now have the chance to see more than 125 works of art thanks to a new wall trail from the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association (AMLA).
The North Alabama Mural Trail spans 16 of the state’s northernmost counties with numerous street art paintings that entertain and educate about the history of the community in which it is located.
“The North Alabama Mural Trail is not just for art lovers, but for those who appreciate the transformation of a white wall,” said AMLA President and CEO Tami Reist. “Across the United States there is a national trend to celebrate public art and whether or not you are interested in art, we invite you to come and see what our walls are saying in northern Alabama.
The self-guided tour is via a mobile passport that indicates the artist, postal address and GPS coordinates of the exhibitions, all on an interactive map. The virtual passport is available on NorthALMuralTrail.org.
Participants are also invited to share the murals they visit on social media with the hashtag #NorthALMurals to win a Visit North Alabama award.
