Amid Republican criticism, Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams apologizes for photo without a mask

After posting the photo, Abrams received a strong backlash from right-wing critics who oppose mask mandates in schools, including his Republican opponents in the November gubernatorial race. Republican Governor Brian Kemp, who is running for re-election, in a tweet from saturday said while Abrams “wants state government mask warrants for Georgians and their children,” it “seems like they wouldn’t apply when she attends a photo op.” Former Sen. David Perdue, who is challenging Kemp in the Republican primary, tweeted that “Abrams’ hypocrisy knows no bounds”.
