Amid rising COVID-19 cases in Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh government put all districts in the National Capital Region (NCR) on alert mode on Saturday, according to an official statement. .
Instructions to this effect were given by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while he was chairing a meeting on the handling of COVID-19 in the state, according to the statement.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister observed that over the past few days there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases in adjoining areas of the state and its impact is visible in the districts of the NCR.
He asked officials to put all districts in the RNC on alert mode, he said. In view of the current circumstances, the whole of the RNC has been put on alert mode, he added.
Adityanath also ordered officials to send samples from COVID-19 patients for genome sequencing. According to the statement, Gautam Buddh Nagar reported 70 cases of COVID-19 and Ghaziabad 11 on Saturday.
Adityanath asked officials to expedite the administration of the booster dose of COVID-19 vaccines to all adults. Booster doses are administered at 700 private vaccination centers in the state.
The Chief Minister has instructed officials to remain vigilant for malaria in Bareilly Division and raise awareness on dengue fever prevention in Agra and Lucknow Divisions, the statement said. Also, he said, awareness about encephalitis should be generated among the people of Purvanchal (eastern Uttar Pradesh), according to the statement.
