Amgen Expands Free Cholesterol Testing Program to Address Major Public Health Crisis

High LDL-C or “bad cholesterol” is a major, modifiable risk factor for heart attack and stroke. Yet many people are unaware of their high LDL levels because they have no symptoms.1

Over the past year, Amgen has helped thousands of people take important steps to learn more about their heart health through its free LDL cholesterol testing program. As part of this effort, Amgen is making cholesterol testing even easier for communities across the country. Individuals can now get a free LDL cholesterol test at approximately 1,000 MinuteClinic locations, located in select CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide.

Amgen will also continue to offer free in-home and lab LDL-C testing for those who enroll. More information on all LDL-C testing options is available at WhatismyLDL.com.*

Through the collective efforts of cardiovascular health organizations and experts, we have helped thousands of people get free LDL-C testing, advanced cardiovascular care for millions of patients, and accelerated programs that address heart health inequities. This initiative is another example of how we are advancing our bold ambition to halve the number of heart attacks and strokes by 2030.

– Murdo Gordon, executive vice president of global commercial operations at Amgen

“Heart attacks and strokes can be reduced through early detection and management of LDL-C levels,” said Creagh Milford, DO, MPH, president of Retail Health, CVS Health. “Cholesterol testing is an important tool to help patients understand their cardiovascular health.”
