Amazon has completed its acquisition of Hollywood studio MGM, two days after European regulators said the deal ‘would not significantly reduce competition’ in European markets
Amazon said on Thursday it had completed its acquisition of Hollywood studio MGM two days after European regulators said the deal “would not significantly reduce competition” in European markets.
MGM is one of Hollywood’s oldest studios. The retail giant said in a blog post on Thursday that MGM has more than 4,000 movie titles, 17,000 TV episodes and rewards that “will complement the work of Prime Video and Amazon Studios in offering variety of entertainment choices to customers”.
MGM still has an extensive library, with famous characters like Rocky, RoboCop and Pink Panther, which Amazon said it will use to create new movies and shows.
