Amazon is about to announce a bunch of new products

Amazon has new products on the way. The company is hosting an invitation-only virtual event today, where it is expected to showcase products from its entire line of brands.

Chances are there’s a lot to see. Amazon is exceptionally good at keeping its upcoming releases a secret, and it typically uses its annual September event to announce a lot new products. These could come from Amazon’s own product line – which includes the Kindle, Fire TV and Echo – and some of its acquired brands, such as Eero, Ring and Blink.

The Echo is the big one to watch. It’s been a while since we’ve seen any new updates for the Echo, which last saw a new version of its standard and Dot models in 2020. The Kindle just saw a major update of its entry-level model, but it’s been about three years since the update to the premium Oasis. The Fire TV Stick just got an update last year, but it’s possible Amazon has other parts of the Fire TV ecosystem it wants to update.

Then there’s Ring and Eero. These product lines are much more difficult to predict. But if we do see them, chances are they’ll continue to expand the product ecosystems they’ve already been working on since they had fairly recent additions to some of their key products.

The event is livestreamed by invitation only, so it is not open to the public. The edge will be covering the event as it unfolds, giving you updates as they come in via our live blog. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET.
